Healing from Within is located in Timmins, ON and was founded by Huguette and Julie in an effort to provide counselling and therapy services to those in Northern Ontario. Our counsellors provide a variety of mental health support services for adults, children, couples, families, and more. Counsellors work collaboratively with clients to set goals, decide treatment plans, and find meaningful ways to help clients heal and manage their struggles.

  • Counsellor Huguette Ladouceur offers counselling services and specializes in grief counselling. Huguette offers, child counselling, adult counselling, family counselling, and couples counselling.

    Registered Social Worker (BSW) | Grief Specialist (CCPC, OCSW)

    As a Registered Social Worker, Huguette works holistically with adults, children, and families to provide support for those who are dealing with addiction, violence and abuse, trauma, and more.

    Huguette also specializes in grief, loss, and significant life-altering losses such as divorce, miscarriages, friendships, pets, employment, health, and limbs. She can support individuals facing end of life, along with guiding and supporting families and friends in understanding the process their loved one will experience.

    She offers a safe, warm, trusting, and nonjudgmental space by using an empathetic and collaborative approach. Some of the counselling techniques Huguette utilizes are CBT, cognitive restructuring, journalling, relaxation and stress reduction techniques, and more.

  • Julie is a counsellor providing counselling services. Julie provides adult counselling, couples counselling, and family counselling for trauma, depression, anxiety, crisis.

    Julie Joanisse-Gillis

    Registered Social Worker (BSW, OCSW)

    Julie is a registered social worker and has been practicing in the mental health system for the past twenty years. She specializes in mood disorders, including anxiety and depression, and has extensive experience helping clients successfully navigate complex diagnoses, treatments, and systems.

    Julie’s flexible and supportive practice is guided by a client-centered, solution-focused, and CBT-informed approach that is customized to fit the client’s unique needs, treatment goals, expectations and motivations. Her passion is to assist clients with their mental health by addressing total well-being and growth.

    Julie is currently completing certification for CBT (Level 1 and 2 completed), DBT (Level 1 completed), and working toward becoming APT (the Association of Psychological Therapies) certified.

  • Katrina Charbonneau

    Registered Social Worker (HBSW, OCSW, OASW)

    Katrina is a Registered Social Worker with a holistic and trauma-informed approach currently serving clients 14+. Katrina works with individuals, couples, and families, to create goals, re-frame unhealthy thinking patterns, and utilize effective coping strategies to help them lead lives that are in alignment with their unique values and desires. Katrina will advocate for those facing discrimination and oppression. Her strengths-based approach serves to empower clients to lead their healing journey with her support.

    Katrina is passionate about supporting her 2SLGBTQ+ community with affirming supports, identity exploration, and a safe outlet to discuss the unique issues they face. She is open to supporting both traditional and alternative relationships and approaches these issues from a sex positive, and non- judgmental lens.  

    Katrina has experience supporting those involved or at risk of being involved in the criminal justice system. From navigating the emotional aspects as they enter the system to empowering them as they exit and reintegrate into society. Both perpetrators of crime and victims alike will feel safe as they take steps towards personal growth, healing, and wellness with her help.

    Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying)

    Julie is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) who has been practicing since 2017. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Université de Hearst and a Bachelor of Education from Lakehead University.

    Julie specializes in child therapy, demonstrating her expertise in working with children and supporting their mental health needs. She possesses a deep understanding of the unique challenges and developmental stages that children face and employs evidence-based techniques to promote their emotional well-being.

    Julie is certified in various therapeutic modalities, including Play Therapy, Emotion Focused Therapy, and Crisis Intervention. These certifications highlight her dedication to providing specialized and effective treatment approaches for her clients.

    Julie is highly compassionate, empathetic, and committed to providing a safe and supportive environment for her clients. She believes in tailoring her approach to meet the specific needs of clients, fostering a trusting and collaborative therapeutic relationship.

    Julie addresses behavioral issues, anxiety, trauma, and depression; she is dedicated to helping her clients navigate through challenges and achieve their personal growth and well- being. Her passion for mental health and strong clinical skills makes her a valuable asset to Children and Youth.

    Shalissa is a Registered Social Worker with a wealth of experience, who holds an Honours bachelor’s in social work from Algoma University, she is a dedicated practitioner known for her compassion, understanding, trustworthy demeanor and is deeply respectful of her clients’ needs.

    With a passion for making a positive impact, Shalissa's specialties include trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, and intimate partner violence. Her broad scope of practice extends to working with adults, children and youth, couples, and families, demonstrating her versatility in addressing various aspects of mental health and relationship dynamics.

    Shalissa is particularly committed to serving the Indigenous population, utilizing an anti-oppressive lens, and incorporating principles of structural social work. Her approach is rooted in recognizing and building upon the strengths of individuals and communities, fostering empowerment and resilience.

    Proficient in the fundamentals of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and the Single Session model, Shalissa employs evidence-based techniques tailored to the unique needs of her clients. This diverse skill set allows her to provide effective and personalized therapeutic interventions.
